Governor, CM expresses grief over loss of lives in Khellani road accident

Governor N N Vohra has expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives in a road accident.In a condolence message the Governor has conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.He has wished speedy recovery to the persons injured in this accident. The Raj Bhavan spokesperson said that the Governor has expressed deep concern over the recurring road accidents and re-iterated that every concerned agency must be held accountable for strictly enforcing regulations regarding overloading, over-speeding, condemnation of unfit vehicles and punitive summary fines being imposed on the offenders.
He noted that no unqualified and unlicensed person should be allowed to drive any personal, transport or commercial vehicle.
Meanwhile Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti also expressed grief over the death of precious human lives.
In her condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed her heart-felt sympathies to the bereaved families in their hour of grief and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. She also wished speedy recovery to those injured in the accident.
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Public Works Department, Naeem Akhtar has also expressed deep grief and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
The Minister said that given the vulnerability of Batote-Kishtwar road, the Chief Engineer R&B Jammu has been asked to work out the feasibility of providing an alternate link bypassing the existing susceptible stretches.
“As soon as the feasibility report for the alternate link is finalized, the R&B Department would start work on it after fulfilling the requisite codal formalities,” the Minister said and added that Rs 90 crore already stand sanctioned for upgradation of Batote-Kishtwar highway.
