Governor expresses grief over Army loss in Siachen avalanche

Governor N. N. Vohra has expressed shock and grief over the tragic loss of Army personnel deployed in an Army Post in Northern Siachen Glacier who were buried under a snow wall which collapsed over the post.
The Governor spoke to Lt. Gen. D.S Hooda, Northern Army Commander, today to convey his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families over this tragic loss.
The Governor lauded the brave officers and men of the Indian Army who serve in the most difficult areas, brave all odds and even give away their lives for safeguarding national security.
Meanwhile, Governor expressed grief over the sad demise of Balram Jakhar, former Union Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker and Governor.
In a condolence message the Governor has conveyed his sympathies to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Recalling his association with Mr. Jakhar, from the time he was a junior member of the Punjab Council of Ministers, the Governor described him as a practical politician, an astute parliamentarian and a respected Governor who worked throughout his life for promoting public welfare.
