Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today stressed the crucial important of urgent restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, where life remained crippled for the 53rd day today due to strike called by separatists.
Officials said that National Panthers Party (NPP) chief Prof Bhim Singh and MLC Shahnaz Ganie called on Vohra at Raj Bhavan separately here today.
Prof Singh informed Vohra about his concerns in regard to the prevailing security situation in the State.
However, stressing the crucial importance of peace and normalcy being urgently restored, the Governor urged Prof. Singh to vigorously continue his initiatives in this regard.
A spokesman of the NPP said Prof Singh urged for his intervention under Section 92 of J&K Constitution so that peace is brought back in Kashmir and confidence of the people is restored.
He said Prof Singh expressed hoped that the Governor Rule shall be imposed in J&K which shall be in the interest of the people of the entire state at present. The Panthers Party also made an appeal to the people of the Valley particularly the youth and students to ensure that violence is completely kept out of the movement and peace is given a chance.
Prof Singh said that Constitution of India does not allow children and minors to be detained in the jails, prisons and police stations.
Meanwhile Ganai shared her views about the obtaining situation and the hardships being faced by people.
The Governor stressed the crucial importance of urgent restoration of peace and normalcy and urged Ganai to vigorously continue her initiatives in this regard.
