March 24: Governor, N N Vohra, who is Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, travelled on the new track called Tarakot Track, which has been constructed by the Shrine Board at a cost of over Rs 18 crore. He was accompanied by A K Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Board.
While travelling on the track, the Governor directed the CEO to urgently complete the ongoing civil works relating to toilets, Bhojanalayas and view points and also draw up an urgent plan for the new track being provided shelters to protect the pilgrims from sun and rain.
He further directed that such shelters can be installed at identified sectors of the track. “There is no need to cover the entire distance so that the pilgrims can enjoy a walk in the sun during winters,” the Governor said.
After inspecting other ongoing works, the Governor paid obeisance at the Shrine.
