Govt keen to develop educational infrastructure in state: Sham Lal

Highlighting the importance of education, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today said the government has laid special thrust on consolidation of infrastructure in educational institutions to make these real hubs of modern learning.
The Minister said this while addressing the gathering after felicitating meritorious students at Government Higher Secondary School, Sai in Suchetgarh.
Minister said Education system is being refurbished to enable the pass outs to meet the challenges of modern world. “Vocationalisation of school education and promotion of research at Higher Education is some path breaking steps being taken up under the new system,” he said and listed various projects and flagships educational schemes introduced by the government to meet this goal. He said introduction of vocational education has been given first priority under flagship RMSA scheme. He called upon the parents to send their wards, especially girls to schools to get education and become self-reliant citizens. On the occasion, the Minister felicitated 13 girl students for their excellent performance in class XII examinations, in a function which was organised by Non Government Organization – “The Living Foundation”. He congratulated the meritorious girls and asked other students to take inspiration from them and work hard to achieve their goals. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated newly established ICT Room in the school.
Later, the Minister distributed organic fertilizer NPT bags among the farmers under Suchetgarh Basmati Rice Cluster (SBRC) project at Common Facility Centre, Suchetgarh. Speaking on the occasion, he asked the farmers to avail various intervention schemes introduced by the government to boost
agriculture production and provide market facilities to them. He said, under the SBRC project, the government is providing 80 per cent subsidy to local farmers for procuring farming machinery and tools.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu RL Bhagat and other senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.
