Stressing upon the State Government to immediately issue the notification for starting the process for distribution of the package among the Displaced Persons (DPs) from POJK, BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh said that a simplified and transparent system need to be adopted for the convenience of the claimants.
Dr. Narinder Singh said that after the sanctioning of the package of rupees 2000 crores in favour of the DPs by the present Narendra Modi led NDA government at the Centre, the further responsibility now lies with the state government and whatever related exercise is required should be undertaken at the earliest.
He said that minimum formalities should be required from the people who file their claims
without any exploitation and a strict vigil be maintained so that no middleman is involved in getting the claim approved and the money
Charging the Congress of playing politics on the long pending sensitive issue, Dr. Narinder Singh said that better the leaders of this party not mislead the PDs. He said that it is even most unfortunate that the Congress did nothing during the last seventy years and today when some positive step has been taken, they are in the forefront to criticize the Modi government.
Dr. Narinder Singh questioned the claim of Congress Vice-President & Former Minister that the previous Congress-NC government had recommended a proposal to the government at the Centre for these people, asked the Ex-Minister why the same could not be approved despite the fact that there was Congress-led UPA at the Centre for ten years.
He reminded that in fact, if ever some little or more was done for DPs, it was during the Prime Ministership of Atal Behari Vajpayee, who had displayed commitment towards mitigating the sufferings of the DPs.
The BJP leader expressed hope that good sense would prevails on the Congress and its leaders in the state, they change their mindset and take the plight of the DPs in a sympathetic manner rather than going public to criticize the initiative of
