Industries play an important role in the Economy of any country and without industries, economic development is not possible. Ensuring steady industrial growth helps to compliment and sustain continued economic development. A well developed industrial sector, covering various different areas is vital to the economic development of a country. This was stated by former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla while addressing a deputation of business community and extending full support to them to become their voice in addressing their grievances.
Bhalla in his address to the impressive gathering assured that with the support of all constituents of Federation of Industries viz. Bari-Brahmana / Birpur / Digiana / Gangyal / Ashok Nagar, Samba & Kathua, the relevant issues pertaining to the industrial sector, especially the local entrepreneurs of Micro & Small Enterprises (MSE units) of Jammu province will be taken up with the State Govt. Dept’s and its functionaries to solve their burning problems being faced by the Jammu Industry. He further said that Govt should solve ongoing problems like Central package of incentives which has been partially withdrawn in steps. In addition to this, he said, “Govt should focus on bringing new investments in our region from outside the State as well as inside the State and making all efforts for growth, promotion and sustainability of the existing industry”. Bhalla criticized the policies of state and central governments for framing faulty policies that in turn allowed inequitable industrial growth in the state in contrast to their own commitments on promoting equitability. The Directorate of Industries Jammu should also take up these issues with the government along with other genuine problems of Jammu based units. Bhalla criticized the state budget, saying it was devoid of any substantive relief for the common man and “lacked” concrete framework for revival of the state’s economy. “The budget presented by Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu is a reflection of mere figures being devoid of any substantive relief for the common man.
Besides, it totally lacks concrete framework for revival of states economy,” he added. Despite the demand for adequate financial assistance for relief and rehabilitation of flood victims, no funds have been proposed, which is very unfortunate, for revival of the industrial sector, the budget does not carry any vision, he said.
