Guv for more compensation for FFRs

Governor N N Vohra has addressed Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and requested him to enhance the compensation rates payable to persons in J&K who are affected by Field Firing and Artillery Practices.
The Governor pointed out that the land owners have been complaining about the poor rates of compensation and this also raises additional problems when the existing Field Firing Ranges (FFRs) have to be re-notified, as for example the Hiranagar Field Firing Range.
The Governor has pointed out that the rates of compensation were fixed 28 years ago.
Meanwhile, Vohra would be attending the Governor’s conference (2016) which is being held on 8th -10th February, 2016, at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
This conference will be chaired by the President and attended by Vice-President of India, Prime Minister, Home Minister, Defence Minister, External Affairs Minister, Education Minister, Rural Development Minister and other concerned Ministers, besides all the Governors and Lt. Governors in the country.
The conference will discuss: Internal and External Security, with a special focus on Terrorism; Skill Development and Employment; Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; Housing for All by 2022; Smart Cities; Higher Education; Make in India Programme and Employability; and Development of North Eastern Regions.
