Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and Minister for Public works and Parliamentary affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today directed the officers to ensure development of far flung areas on priority. Veeri directed the concerned officers to expedite the work on projects of public importance and avoid cost escalation. These instructions were passed to the officers during a joint meeting chaired by Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and PWD Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri to discuss the important issues pertaing to development of district Kargil. The Minister directed the concerned to identify projects under CRF, NABARD, State Road Projects and Special Bridges Programme for the benefit of the people of the area. Threadbare discussion was held on the ongoing projects of widening/up gradation of two lane NH 301 Kargil-Zanaskar Road of length 234 kms approved under Prime Minister’s Development Programme being executed by the Public Works Department. The Minister directed the officers to pace up the work on the project of national importance.
The Chairman said that Kargil is one of the remotest areas of the state and to provide relief to the people, extensive road connectivity is very vital for development of the area. Ali stressed the need for purchasing adequate number of snow clearance machines to ensure road connectivity is restored on time.
