Rajouri, April 11
Security forces today busted a militant hideout and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition in Kalakote area.
As per reports, a joint team of Kalakote Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of Counter Insurgency Force and J & K Police from Police Station Kalakote diligently developed the intelligence input over a fortnight.
After several search operations, the team managed to trace out the cache from Tattapani Forests near Kalakote.
Trained sniffer dogs and metal detectors were also used in the operation. This find has frustrated the plans by terrorists to use these weapons for a deadly strike. The cache included one Sniper rifle with Telescopic Sight (Chinese), one AK-47 rifle, one AK-74 rifle, one 7.62 mm pistol, one Chinese pistol (Mauser), one .32 revolver (‘Made in Pakistan’), four hand held radio sets, one binocular and around 150 rounds of ammunition.
The timely recovery of the arms and ammunition has thwarted any untoward incident planned by terrorist in the AOR. Rashtriya Rifles Battalions have been continuously carrying out operations in the area to break the backbone of militancy. This was a successful joint operation of Army with J&K Police, to nip the evil designs of militants in the area.
