Hiranagar Police arrest two narcotic smugglers with half Kg Heroin

In continuation to drive launched against drug menace in District Kathua and in view of recent militancy related inputs received from different agencies about the desperation of infiltration of antinational elements, district police have established special ambushes on all the infiltration routes as well as on national highway. In joist of these ambushes, Hiranagar Police had succeeded in arresting two narcotic smugglers possessing heroin.
According to reports, on Tuesday i.e. at about 0530 hours, police party from p/s Hiranagar while on routine checking of all types of vehicles intercepted one motorcycle bearing registration number JK02-BM-7880 coming from Jammu and heading towards Punjab. On signal, the bike rider tried to escape breaking the naka however, the alert police officers/officials over powered the riders.
During the questioning, they disclosed their identity as Navjot Singh S/o Amar Singh (26) r/o Indira Nagar Miran Sahib Jammu and Swaran Singh s/o Sukhwant Singh R/o Indira Nagar Miran Sahib Jammu. During personal checking / frisking, police team recovered one packet with wrapped with grey colour plastic tape, weighing 500 Gms containing narcotic substance. During further investigation, the accused revealed that both are Heroin smuggler and they are active since long. They also said that it was their third consignment of contraband narcotic (heroin), which they were going to deliver at Amritsar and had collected from Jammu based smugglers.
SHO p/s Hiranagar Inspector Naveen Angral under the supervision of SDPO border Dy SP Diwakar Singh and over all supervision of worthy SSP Kathua Neeva Jain conducted the operation. On this, a case under FIR number 81/2016 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Hiranagar and investigation started.
