A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant was arrested in a joint operation by security forces in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said here today.
They said on a tip off, 21 Rashitriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a search operation at Khurmorah Rajwara forest area in Handwara in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
Sources said during the operation the HM militant, identified as Falak Noor, reportedly active for the past two years, was arrested.
Meanwhile, search operation at Reshmuqam Gujjar Patti woods in the Kupwara continued for the second day today.
However, no contact was so far established with the militants, hiding in the dense forest. The sources said 47 RR and SOG were joined by other security forces and massive searches were going from different sides to nab the militants, reportedly four to six hiding there.
