Burhan was killed by police and Army in a joint operation on July 8. According to the inputs from intelligence agencies, militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen is planning to carry out a major terror attack in Jammu region. “To carry out this attack, HM has formed a suicide squad in which 10 fierce terrorists have been trained to target police stations and naka points especially on Jammu-Pathankot Highway,” a senior official said.
He added that the suicide squad has been tasked to cause maximum damage to police personnel and CRPF troopers stationed in Jammu.” As per inputs, the squad is well equipped with the deadly weapons and most probably is planning to target police stations or establishments on Jammu Pathankot National Highway. This has been disclosed by the highly placed sources on the basis of information received by the police from various security agencies after the Burhan killing.
The intelligence agencies have informed the top brass of Jammu and Kashmir police that these highly armed ultras have crossed over the line of control and are in transit or camping somewhere in Jammu or Kashmir region. “Though, hard efforts are being made by both intelligence and security agencies to trace out their locations, but till date nothing substantial has been developed,” officer said.
The inputs have also multiplied the worries of police and security agencies owning to the ongoing annual Amarnath Yatra as there is a possibility that these militants may attack in separate groups and may target yatra as well. It has been also mentioned in the report that the HM has activated its sleeper cells in the valley with a responsibility to recruit more youths in the outfit for which they will be rewarded with more than Rs 5 lakh per 10 recruitments.
Even the cells have been asked to prepare documentaries of those killed during the protest after Burhan’s killing to upload them on social media like Facebook and YouTube for motivating more and more youths. The police officer said that following the inputs, home minister at New Delhi has sounded red alert in the state and has asked the police and security forces to maintain high vigil to fight the nefarious designs.
