Human Rights presentations concluded at SMVDU

The Department of Philosophy & Culture, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized lecture presentations on Human Rights by students of an elective course called ‘Introduction to Human Rights and Values’ today concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
In this presentation, 46 students participated and gave the presentations on various topics like, Censorship, Political Prisoners, Slavery, Genocide, Torture, Refugees, Apartheid, Casteism, Racism, Female Genital Mutilation, Extra-judicial executions, Exile, House Arrest, etc.
The Introduction to Human Rights and Values course has a unique feature of end-semester presentations in which students choose movies related to human rights issues or violations and prepare a presentation highlighting human rights issues or violations depicted in the motion picture. Muhammad Zeeshan Qazi and Shivam Luthra, who are both sophomores from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering have scored the highest marks and became joint toppers. This course is coordinated by Sumanta S. Sharma Assistant Professor Department of Philosophy and Culture in assistance with other faculty members of the department Dr. Varun K. Tripathi, Dr. Anil K. Tewari, Dr. Madhu M. Chaturvedi and Dr. Ashoka K. Tarai.
