Panic gripped in Satrina village of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district when locals heard a gunshot on Monday morning. When people entered into the house of one Ghulam Hasan Chowhan, they found his wife lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Locals informed police who arrested the accused husband and registered a murder case (FIR number.31/2016 under section 302 RPC) against him. “We have seized the rifle used for the crime. The accused is working in Border Security Force (BSF) as a constable in 193 Battalion and presently he was posted in Rajhstan. Prima facie it appears that he has shot dead his wife after a brawl between the two,” a police official said.
Shortly after the incident, locals hit to road demanding stringent punishment to the ‘killer’ husband. The protesters blocked the road and disrupted vehicular movement. Police assured the protesters that the accused will be brought to justice.
