IED detected on Srinagar-Baramulla highway

March 11: A major tragedy was averted on Friday as security forces detected an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway in Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior police officer said that “The road opening party (ROP) of the army detected an IED in Nowgam area of Srinagar city. The bomb disposal squads of the army and police are at work.”

The Srinagar-Baramulla highway are heavily used by military convoys. Militants have been using IEDs to target security forces.
