Implement Forest Right Act in J&K: MLA Rajouri

Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rajouri, Adv Qamar Choudhary today asked the government to implement the Forest Right act, 2006, in J&K state, which already has been implemented in Centre and Forest dwellers of almost fifteen Sate of India, except J&K are getting its direct benefit but people of our State are facing a lot due to non enactment of said tribal act in our State, he said. He said government should not disturb the people who are living near forests and they have built their houses in these areas since long. He was speaking this while participating in discussion on Grants of Forest, Environment and Ecology Department here today in J&L Legislative Assembly. MLA said that harassment of people has been accelerated by Forest department in the name of eviction drive and people are being evicted from their houses which is unfortunate and a matter of serious concern. He emphasized the government that the need of the hour that such type of act should not be dilly delaying to implement in the Sate on the pattern of Roshni Act, so the people may not suffer more and could get the benefit.
