An impressive and colorful ‘Rath-Yatra’ (religious procession) was today taken out to celebrate the festival of Ramnavami-marking the incarnation day of Lord Rama-in the city of Temples Jammu.
As part of the Ramnavmi celebrations, the Dharmik Yuvak Mnadal Jammu organized impressive Jhankies (tableaus) which passed through the main bazaars of Indira Chowk, Raghunathji Mandir, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Rajtilak Road, Moti Bazaar, Pacca Danga, Jain Bazaar, Link Road, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazaar and lastly culminated at Shree Raghunathji Mandir.
All tableaus were based on the Sanatan Hindu Dharma and depicted various religious aspects of the Hindu Dharma connected with the pious life of Bhagwan Shree Ramji and other deities. People standing either sides of the road and house tops showered petals of flowers and offered prayers. The Bazaar Associations erected welcome gate and decorated bazaars with multi colour buntings and flowers. At several places philanthropies organized Langars of eatables.
Thousands of devotees drawn from all parts of the Jammu city and its sub urban areas followed the Jhankies reciting keertan and Bhajan charging the atmosphere full of devotional vibrations.
This tradition started right there from historic from Maharaja period. Kunwar Martand Singh and Kunwar Rannvijay Singh, the grandsons of the royal family of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the rally.
The ‘Rath Yatra’ was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust and Raghunath bazaar welfare association, Sanatan dharma sabha, Rajput Sabha, Brahaman Sabha,Mahajan Sabha, Khatri Sabha , Raghunath Bazar Heritage Society and various social originations.
A special pooja was also performed by Martand Singh and Rannvijay Singh at Raghunath Ji Temple Jammu before the commencement of Rath Yatra.
Several prominent people including MOS Education Smt. Priya Sethi, Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal, IG J&K Police Danish Rana, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman Team JAMMU, Director Doordarshan Smt. Anjali Sharma, Yashpal Gupta, Dr Deepak Abrol, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Maj Gen R S Jamwal, Rama Kant dubey, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, Yudhvir Sethi and other prominent citizens also joined the Shobha Yatra procession, Muslim Federation also welcomed the Rath Yatra. Shashi Khajuria Secretary Dharmarth Trust co-ordinated the Ramnavami Rath-yatra.
Meanwhile tight security arrangements were made for the smooth carrying out of the shobha yatra. The Police officials also coordinated to make the event successful.
A heavy rush was seen out at the bank of River Tawi where people as the 10 day long navratras today culminated with the immserison of the ‘Saakh’ There was a bee line of devotees on the Ranbir Canal, Tawi river near Bikram Chowk and at the bank of river Chenab (Chanderbagha) in Akhnoor as the devotees had reached for immersion of Saakh early in the morning in large numbers.
Besides, the Saakh the idols of Goddess Durga were also immersed in rivers after performing pooja -archna during the Navratra festival. There was huge rush in the temples mainly at Bawe Waali Mata where a large number of devotees were seen seeking blessings.
