In J&K, These People will not get Petrol, Police’s eye on CCTV

No fuel will be issued to the motorists without crash helmets and seat belts at the petrol pumps in the Jammu city.
Official communiqués in this regard have been sent to the oil companies—Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Jammu City Shiv Kumar Sharma.
According to the communiqués, the petrol pumps will be of immense help if they extend support and cooperation to Traffic Police for generating awareness among the general public about the importance of crash helmet and seat belt.
“The working parties at each petrol pump will be instructed that they shall not issue petrol or diesel to two-wheelers and Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) without wearing a crash helmet and seat belt. Besides the owners of the petrol pumps will keep CCTV footage available which can be required by Traffic Police for examination in order to have effective traffic management on the roads of Jammu City”, the letter read further.
“The matter needs to be looked into on priority and appropriate orders be issued to the concerned to avoid loss of precious lives on the roads”, the letter read.
SSP Traffic Police Jammu City Shiv Kumar Sharma said, to save precious lives especially of youth a special drive has been launched by Traffic Police in association with oil companies—IOCL, HPCL and BPCL.
During the drive, a person without crash helmet can’t refill fuel in his or her vehicle at petrol pumps of these oil companies in Jammu City, SSP said, adding that fuel will not be issued to the LMVs operators also without wearing seat belts. He appealed the public to cooperate with the Traffic Police in generating awareness and enforcement of rules. “For few days, awareness will be created among the masses and after that legal action will be taken against those without wearing crash helmets and seat belts while refuelling their vehicles at petrol pumps”, SSP asserted.
