In less than 2 days, drivers thrashed, cars hijacked in Samba

In yet another incident of hijacking, a group of unidentified men fled away with taxi after thrashing the driver on Jammu-Pathankot national highway in Samba district late last night.
“We have sounded alert and launched manhunt to find out the culprits who are identified and locals,” a senior police official here said.
He said that the criminals last evening hired the taxi (JK02BF-3244) and asked the driver to move towards Samba as more passengers are to be boarded, adding, ”on reaching Vijaypur area of Samba, they thrashed the driver and fled away with the Taxi.” “This is a second incident took place in the last three days in the same area,” he added and said, “the culprits are identified and we are on job to trace them.”
Earlier on April 16, the snatchers adopted the similar modus operandi and fled away with car on gun point in Samba district.
An alert has also been sounded in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts following twin cases of unidentified persons abducting drivers and later snatching his commercial vehicles and kicking off them from the vehicles after showing him sharp edged weapons on National Highway.
While police officials remained tight lipped over the issue and are learnt to have launched a manhunt to trace the vehicles as well as the culprits.
