Independence Day celebrates with patriotic spirit, zeal in Udhampur

The 74th Independence Day functions were held at District, Tehsil, Block and Niabat headquarters by hoisting Tricolor and paying tributes to the frontline leaders and heroes of freedom struggle.

The main function was held in the premises of PG Degree College (Boys), Udhampur where the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla-the chief guest, hoisted the National Flag.

Director Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur Dr. S. D Singh; DIG Udhampur Reasi Range, Sujit Kumar; Senior Superintendent of Police, Sargun Shukla; Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar and senior officers of District Administration, Police, Air Force, CRPF, ITBP, BSF and Army besides elected representatives and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.

After extending heartiest greetings to the people and highlighting the sacrifices of national heroes during the freedom struggle, the DDC listed the development projects being executed in the district like Devika Project, National Highway (NH-44, NH-244) project, Digital Land Management Programme, Yoga International Convention Centre Mantalai, Medical College and Degree Colleges at Udhampur, Jal Jeevan Mission, Udhampur, Solid Waste Management Project at Mand Udhampur, besides many major projects are completed and dedicated to public. He said the district has received National award for Jeevika project and e-Governance gold award for IT based relief distribution App – Sakoon-e-Awam.

He said all these projects are aimed at improving the living condition of the people in urban, sub urban and rural areas.

The Independence Day function was also held Ramnagar, whereat Block Development Chairman, unfurled the National Flag.
