The 74th Independence Day was celebrated across the district with patriotic fervour and zeal amid observance of COVID-19 protocols.
The celebrations were held at district Headquarter, sub-divisions and tehsil headquarters. The main function was organized here at the Sports Stadium, where Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav- chief guest, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the march past comprising contingents of JKAP, JKP, CRPF, JKPQRT and JK Police band.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were District Principal Session Judge, Madan Lal; Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramesh Angral; Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohd Rashid; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sheraz ul Haq; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar Haveli, retired officers, educationists, district heads of different departments and the public in a large number.
In his Independence Day speech, the Deputy Commissioner paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters whose supreme sacrifices won India freedom.
Regarding the development, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration is working hard to provide better and adequate drinking water, power, health, education and other facilities of daily life to the people of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the successful implementation of centrally sponsored schemes of the health department like Aysushman Bharat, PM-SYM, PM-KISAN etc. He said the district administration is venturing hard to achieve inclusive development of all regions of district involving all sections of society. He said special attention is being given to ensure the participation of women in the development process.
He also said that a transparent, accountable, responsive and efficient administration is ensured in the district and persistent efforts are being made to reach out to the public at their doorsteps for delivery of services and listening to their grievances.
