India-SA 2nd Test, Day 5: Outfield not cleared

Morning drizzle has delayed the start of the final day’s play in the rain-ruined second Test between India and South Africa in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Cyclonic rains and a wet outfield have combined to ensure no play has been possible since 81 overs were bowled on the opening day of what is South African batsman AB de Villiers’ 100th Test match.

Play was to start at 9:15 a.m. on the final day but the umpires decided to hold a further inspection at 11:30 a.m. before play could resume.

The rain has stopped and weather permitting, India, who lead the four-match series 1-0, will resume on 80 for no loss in response to South Africa’s 214.
