A National Integration Tour for the senior citizens of remote villages from areas of Eastern Ladakh organised under Operation Sadbhavana was flagged off by the GOC 14 Corps in Leh today.
The tour comprises of 18 senior citizen from villages of Demchok and Koyul accompanied with one officer, one JCO and three Jawans.
The aim of this tour is to integrate the locals in the mainstream and give them an exposure to the developments in mainland India and the rich culture of the country by visiting forts, historical places and modern cities. These locals traditionally live very difficult and inhospitable areas which are above the altitude of 14000 feet and remain isolated and cut off from the mainstream.
The tour will reach Chandigarh tomorrow where the participants will visit various places in Chandigarh viz Ellante Mall, Sect -17, Rock Garden and Sukna Lake.
From Chandigarh, the National Integration Tour will proceed to Delhi and will visit Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Lotus Temple, Air Force museum, Raj Ghat and Zoo over the next two days. The National Integration Tour will later visit Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
The tour will return to Leh on 22 February 2016.
