Army Public School Rakhmuthi organised an Inter School English and Hindi Declamation competition in Byram auditorium on 09 May 2016. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honour, Ms Sonali Gurung and other dignitaries present in the function. The students of six schools from Northern Command including APS Akhnoor, APS Udhampur, APS Dhar road, APS Srinagar, APS Nagrota and APS Rakhmuthi participated in competition with great interest, zeal and enthusiasm.
The topic of declamation in English was “Formulating One World One Nation” and in “Hindi Mazhab nahi sikhata aapas me bair rakhna“ The declamation witnessed a fierce competition with dexterous articulation between participants. Each student had an act of reciting a speech. The listeners were impressed by the confidence exhibited by the students as they voiced their opinion in strong and powerful words in neck to neck competition where each tried to outshine the other to the best of his/her ability. The winners were judged on the basis of their content, expression, gestures, pronunciation and confidence.
In English Declamation, first position was clinched by Shivam Bhatyar of APS Nagrota while S. Christan Lawrance of APS Rakhmuthi secured second place. Nandini Rastogi of APS Dhar Road and Muskan Chib of APS Akhnoor shared first position while Kirti Devi of APS Rakhmuthi bagged second position in Hindi Declamation. In their inspiring address, the guests, S Ragubir Singh (Retd Principal) & Rashpal Singh (MD Chenab Valley Public School) laid stress on the importance of declamation competitions. Such events help the students to improve their communication skills and learn the new ways of presenting their thoughts. They also applauded the efforts of the students for their brilliant performance and the teachers for their guiding force.
Principal APS Rakhmuthi, Shaswati Ghosh, congratulated the winners and motivated them to take active participation in such competitions. She also added, “Time is the most precious resource and winning is important but the motivation is the most valuable.”
