Inter-zone girls meet gets underway at Domana

After boys’ events, inter-zonal girls (under-14 and under-17) competitions of Jammu districts in the disciplines of volleyball, kho-kho and kabaddi started today at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana, here.

The opening day of the two-day competition witnessed preliminary rounds in all the events. Earlier, the meet was declared open by Principal of the host school, Shandra Malhotra amidst interaction with the participating teams. She encouraged the young girls from different zones to excel in sports so as to earn a name at the national level.

VOLLEYBALL: UNDER-14: Khour beat Marh 2-0; Marh Zone beat Miran Sahib 2-0. UNDER-17: Marh beat Gandhi Nagar 2-0; Miran Sahib beat Akhnoor 2-0; Chowki Choura beat Satwari 2-0.

KABADDI: UNDER-17: Marh beat Bishnah 36-15; Bhalwal beat Jammu 29-11; Jourian beat RS Pura 37-05; Chowki Choura beat Arnia 18-16; Miran Sahib beat Marh 31-20. UNDER-14: Satwari beat Miran Sahib 43-41; Bhalwal zone beat Jammu 20-08; RS Pura beat Bishnah 34-32; Marh beat Jourian 30-05.

KHO-KHO: UNDER-17: Khour beat Bishnah 10-04; Jourian beat RS Pura by one turn and six points; Dansal beat Marh 8-7; Jammu beat Chowki Choura by one turn and one point; Bhalwal beat Satwari 4-0. UNDER-14: Satwari beat Bhalwal 2-1; Jammu beat Chowki Choura 2-1; Khour beat Bishnah 7-3; Dansal beat Marh 3-2; Arnia beat Gandhi Nagar 5-2; RS Pura beat Jourian 6-3.

CRICKET: In the ongoing under-14 boys’ cricket competition, Gandhi Nagar zone shall take on Jammu zone in the final tomorrow. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Gandhi Nagar outplayed Marh zone by five runs while Jammu defeated Khour zone by eight wickets.
