International day of specially-abled persons observed in Valley

In connection with international day of differently-abled persons various functions were held across the valley today to mark the day with an aim to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
In Srinagar Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment organized a function during which officials highlighted the progress, achievements and future plan of the CRC Srinagar and academic, clinical and various schemes implemented by the Ministry in the interest of specially-abled persons. IIn Anantnag a function to observe the day was attended by legislators, Mohammad Altaf Wani, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Abdul Majeed Bhat, B.A. Veeri, DC Anantnag Syed Abid Rasheed, DIG South and senior officers of the district administration.
In Kulgam, DC Showkat Aijaz Bhat presided over a function during which he assured the gathering of physically challenged persons and students of every possible support from the district administration and said they have equal rights and the society cannot ignore them. The function was also attended by ADC, CEO, DPO and officers of Education Department and others.In Kupwara, a function to observe the international day of persons with disabilities was held in which legislator Bashir Ahmad Dar was the chief guest. ADC, CMO, officers of the Social Welfare and district administration, besides a large number of disabled and widows were present in the function. The speakers called for strict implementation of various Government sponsored welfare schemes for disabled persons.
