In a major success police busted an International drug smuggling racket by arresting four drug peddlers along with 3 kilograms of high quality brown sugar from residency road Jammu last night.
As per inputs during the routine a team of police station City Jammu headed by SHO Inspector Shakti Devi spotted a group of four persons exchanging their bags at Residency road near Mansar hotel over which she suspected and intercepted the group.
During questioning they failed to give reliable answers to the question made over which their bags were searched by the police team and of which five packets of high quality brown sugar (3 Kg) was recovered.
All the four persons were arrested on the spot and were brought to police station city Jammu where they disclosed their identity as Mohd Farooq son of Alam Din resident of Serola, Manjakot of Rajouri, Javed lqball son of Alam Din resident of Serola, Manjakot of Rajouri, Nawaf Khan son of Nawab Khan resident of Kanni Manglam, Palakkad of Kerala and Mohd Ajmel Roshan son of Hanif resident of Keser Kot, Kesergod of Kerala.
During the interrogation the accused disclosed that they had brought this consignment from Rajouri and had to be sent to Delhi via Kerala based smugglers. During the investigations they also disclosed that they are part and parcel of an international drug smuggling racket being operated internationally.
The mobile phones seized by the police from the possession of smugglers were continuously receiving calls from the international numbers which when verified by the police were found to be of Kuwait. The value of recovered brown sugar is about 5 Crores in the international market. In this regard a case under FIR number 52/2016 under section 8/21/22/NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station City Jammu and investigation has also been started.
