After 14 days of complete blackout, internet connectivity was restored to Ladakh region.

A team of BSNL officials repaired the optical fibre which had go damaged near Captain Morh at Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Ladakh national highway. The internet services got snapped on March 18 in the evening. Optical fiber had got damaged. BSNL authorities had stated that they were waiting for snow clearance for repairing optical fibre.

The fibre had got damaged due to massive land sliding on the Srinagar-Ladakh highway. BSNL had tried to send a team by air to the spot. Dismayed at the manner in which Governor N.N.Vohra’s administration has maintained complete silence over the issue, Ladakhis have approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi pleading him to intervene and ensure that Ladakh gets reconnected with rest of world through internet.

Meanwhile, Border Roads Organization (BRO) has started work to clear snow between Drass and Zojjila. Pertinent to mention here that people of Ladakh region in general and Kargil in particular face huge problem due to worst Internet connectivity and non-availability of any other telecommunication agency in the district.
