Irregularities, corruption thy norm in centrally sponsored schemes: SVC

State Vigilance Commission while expressing concern over large scale irregularities and corruption in execution of centrally sponsored schemes allegedly by some officers/officials of the Rural Development Department in league with concerned Sarpanches and Panches at Block Tral today summoned Block Development Officer (BDO) Tral.

State Vigilance Commission while proceeding on a complaint lodged by the inhabitants of village Pinglish (Tral) regarding large scale misuse and misappropriation of Funds allocated under various Centrally sponsored schemes by officers/officials of the concerned block in connivance with Panches and Sarpanches, resulting in unfair and arbitrary distribution of IAY in addition owing to maladministration and nepotism by the concerned officials, the  nomenclature of works   executed under MGNREGA  had been changed  dishonestly to favour influential and prominent persons of the village, sought report from ACD Pulwama in the light of allegations levelled .

The report submitted  by ACD Pulwama before the Commission prima-facie revealed that  large scale irregularities had been committed by the  officers/officials of concern Block  in distribution of IAY Funds by conferring  undue benefits to  Panches and Sarpanches  while  ignoring the real , deserved and genuine ones, thereby frustrating the real objective of the scheme.

The report further depicted gross violation of prescribed norms and guidelines in execution of works done under MGNREGA by the concerned officials in abuse of their official position. State Vigilance Commission taking note of omissions and commissions on part of officials of BDO office Tral, summoned BDO TRAL to appear before the Commission on next date of hearing to elucidate the report.
