It’s a matter of pride that without taking any help from govt, locals organized Mela: Pathania

Underscoring the importance of preserving our traditions, rich culture and festivals in the teeth of so-called trends of modernity, R S Pathania, MLA Ramnagar today threw open the traditional “Annual Baisakhi-Mela” in the historic “Chowgan” of Ramnagar wherein officers of District,Tehsil and Police administration, were present besides prominent people and general public.
It is pertinent to mention here that Baisakhi Mela of Ramnagar popularly known as “Samadhi-Mela” Ramnagar had become redundant and was started couple of years back on the intervention of Pathania who took personal interest and this cultural festival was revived by the ‘Baisakhi Mela Committee Ramnagar’
While speaking on the occasion, R S Pathania stressed on the importance of these traditional festivals and Melas to maintain the harmony amongst all the sections of the society as such events bring people closer. He said that it is a matter of pride that without taking any help from Government, the locals of the area have themselves organized this mela and that too on a large scale. He appreciated the efforts of the whole team and said that such events keep the culture as well as the tradition of the country alive. He also stressed upon promoting more events like this.
He further congratulated ‘Baisakhi Mela Committee Ramnagar ‘for organizing such a Mela and lauded the efforts of the committee who had made arrangements on their own.
Later Pathania convened Public Darbar at Dak Bungalow Ramnagar to take stock of various developmental works being initiated by various deptts. On-spot directions were issued to resolve various issues raised by public.
Others who were present on the occasion included Surinder Kudyar, Sumit Gupta (convener Mela Committee), Rakesh Gupta, Sham Lal, Rajinder Sharma (Mandal Pardhans), Jagmohan, Virinder Singh, Master Raj Gopal Kalsotra and others.
