Jammu girl wins gold in Commonwealth Chess

Jammu girl, Meenal Gupta brought laurels to the State winning individual gold in under-14 girls category in the just concluded Commonwealth Chess Championship held at Waskaduwa in Sri Lanka.
As per a handout issued by the All J&K Chess Association, here today, around 500 players and officials from 11 Commonwealth nations participated in eight different categories. Meenal remained undefeated in the nine round event, the handout claimed.
President of the Association, Atul Kumar Gupta and general secretary, Ashiq Ahmad Kolu congratulated young Meenal for her achievement at the international level.
Meenal is a trainee of Vivek Gupta for the big event. A student of KV Sunjuwan, Meenal was all praise for KVS management for the support and encouragement. She is the highest Fide rated women player from J&K.
