Jammu: GMC Emergency Ward lacks basic facilities

The Emergency Ward of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, which is supposed to be of the highest standard, is lacking various basic facilities.

However, it is not the first time when Government Medical College and Hospital has made in limelight due to the lack of health facilities or Doctor’s negligence towards patients.

Sources said that the shortage of trolleys which are used to shift the patients from one place to another, in the emergency block of the hospital, is proving a disaster for the patients and their attendants. Also, most of the trolleys are either defunct or are in the worst condition.

Tall claims of the health department to provide all basic facilities to the government hospital prove to be hollow as Major Hospital of Jammu region established in heart of Jammu city, Government Medical College and Hospital is lacking basic facilities.

Attendants alleged that due to the lack of trolleys, they have to bring the patients to the doctors for examination either by lifting them on the back or on the lap, despite the decrease in the heavy rush due to COVID.

Attendants claimed that they have also made the hospital management aware of this problem several times, but so far the hospital management has not been able to solve this problem which shows the callous attitude of the Hospital administration towards patients and their attendants.
