The residents of Dharap area demanded the district administration and state government to the immediate construction of the collapsed bridge.
Earlier, few hours of heavy rainfall on Wednesday wreaked havoc in many parts of Jammu. While streets were inundated, flood water entered many houses and shops in areas like Kunjwani, Pamposh Colony, Chatha and Nanak Nagar.
The gushing water of a nallah even washed away a bridge at Dharap near Jeevan Nagar creating connectivity issues for the people. The bridge that collapsed due to the floodwater was an important link between Dharap and Bishnah Tehsil of Jammu district.
“This bridge was built just five years ago. The floods washed away the bridge. We are facing many problems now as we can’t go to the areas on the other side of the bridge,” a local resident told JK Newspoint.
The bridge collapse was also caught on camera. In the viral video, the bridge can be seen getting washed away due to the swelling waters of a nallah.
They demanded that the government should construct this bridge as soon as earliest as they are long-distance about 20-25 km to reach Jammu.
