Janamashtami celebrated with religious fervour

People today celebrated ‘Janamashtami’ with religious fervour and gaiety at various parts of the state.
In Bhaderwah, the festival of Janmashtami, commemorating the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety here in Bhaderwah with temples witnessing huge rush of devotees since early this morning. Devotees thronged temples to pay their obeisance to Lord Krishna on the occasion of Janmashtami. Children dressed in colourful attires as Krishna and Radha while some people celebrated the day by flying kites on their rooftops in whole Bhaderwah town . Special shoba yatras was also taken out which passed through Sari Bazaar , old hospital road , Khakhal Mohalla , Jai road and Vasak Dera to mark the occasion. The devotees associating with Shoba Yatra were reciting bhajans and dancing to the tune of beating of drums in praise of Lord Krishna. Amid blowing of conch shells and chants of Vedic hymns, worshippers offered prayers since early morning in temples which wore a festive look. The temples were decorated with flowers, buntings and lights while special arrangements are being made for the prayers to be offered tonight. “Janmashtami is a very significant festival in the Hindu religion and every year, I, along with my family, make sure to pay obeisance at the temple here,” MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta said. ” We held a shoba yatra in which a large number of devotees participated and today we also have decorated the temple as large number of devotees are coming to pay their respects here,” Ashok Kotwal President Sanatam Dharam Sabha , said.Markets in Bhaderwah town also witnessed huge rush of people purchasing idols of Lord Krishna and Radha besides flowers and fruits to perform puja .At various places the devotees showered flowers at Shoba Yatra. Various organizations offered fruits, soft drinks and prashad to devotees.However, special security arrangements were made by local administration in all the temples in view of the festival.
In Ramban, Shri Krishan Janamashtami is one of the most popular festival celebrating the birth of beloved Lord, Bhagwan Sri Krishna, on the eighth day (Ashtami) in the month ofSravana or Savana. It is generally celebrated in the calendar month of August-September.
An impressive ‘Shoba Yatra’ was also taken out on the occassion of Krishna Janamashtami today which started from Raghu Nath ji Temple Ramban and after passing through various markets culminated at Raghunath Temple. Before the Shobha Yatra, Pooja was performed by number of devotees participated in the Pooja.
The Shoba yatra was given a welcome by the members of Muslim Community where prominent members of the community had gathered to greet the Shoba Yatra to keep the traditional and age old brotherhood alive for which Ramban has always given a lead in testing times.
In Rajouri, the residents of Rajouri area also celebrated Janamashtami with taking out of shoba yatra where in impressive Jhankees were displayed by various temple committees and religious organizations in which the large number of devotees participated with great enthusiasm and religious fervor.
