Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, JK Bank’s Automated Teller Machines across Jammu and Kashmir doled out Rs 171 crore in 2 days.
As per data of transactions compiled by JK Bank, Rs 171 crore were withdrawn from its ATMs on Thursday and Wednesday ahead of Eid.
Giving details, a JK Bank official said that a total of Rs 171 crore were dispensed through 3,85,932 transactions by Automated Teller Machines of the bank during two days immediately before Eid.
On Thursday, he said, Rs 91 crore were withdrawn from 839 JK Bank ATMs through 2,13,932 transactions across the state.
The bank official said Rs 71 crore were withdrawn from 513 JK Bank ATMs through 1,60,596 transactions across Kashmir.“In Ladakh Rs 14 crore were withdrawn from 21 ATMs through 4006 transactions. In Jammu Rs 18 crore were withdrawn from around 305 ATMs through more than 49330 transactions,” official said.
On Wednesday Rs 80 crore were withdrawn from around 900 J&K Bank ATMs through more than 1, 72,000 transactions across the state.
He said that Rs 57.18 crore were withdrawn from ATMs through 1,22,000 transactions across Kashmir. While Rs 14 crore were withdrawn through 44,000 transactions in Jammu region. In Ladakh region of the state, an amount of Rs 1.18 crore were withdrawn from ATMs through 3200 transactions.
However, a JK Bank official admitted that transaction during this year’s Eid were lesser in number and volume as compared to corresponding years.
He attributed the reason of lower volume of transactions to non-releasing of advance salaries of government employees.
“Almost all the government employees in JK are getting salaries through our bank, and so automatically it would have increased the transactions on ATMs had the government released in advance the pay of the employees in view of Eid,” he added.
