J&K : Father-Son Dead After Car Falls into Gorge

The teacher father and his four-month-old child died when a speeding car fell into a 150 feet deep gorge while returning from a temple in Bani after their vow was fulfilled. Four people were seriously injured in the accident, who were referred to Kathua Medical College. One of the wounded has been sent to Pathankot for better treatment.

According to the police, Sunil Singh, son of Basant Singh, a resident of Garhmalti in the Bilawar area, had visited the mother and the family and some other people after the fulfilment of the vow. After darshan, everyone was returning. However, when his car number JK08K3501 on Bani-Basohli road reached near Tun Mor, suddenly the driver lost control. Due to this, the car fell into a ditch 150 feet deep below the road. On receiving information about the car falling into the gorge, the police and local people reached the spot, and the injured were evacuated to PHC Jandareli. There the doctors declared teacher Sunil Singh son Basant Singh dead.

Later his six-month-old son also died. After this, the bodies of all the injured and dead were sent to Basohli CHC. Police said that election workers Gopal Singh son Basant Singh, Kamlesh Kumari wife Gopal Singh, Anuradha wife Sunil Singh, Ashok Kumar son Omkar Singh were injured in the accident. From there, all the injured were referred to the Government Medical College, Kathua. When Gopal Singh’s condition deteriorated, he was referred to Pathankot. Basohli police have registered a case and started an investigation into the cause of the accident. The vehicle has been taken into his possession.
