J&K to get 60 new critical care Ambulances soon

Government has imposed to provide 60 new critical care ambulances to Jammu and Kashmir and focus on the shortfall of trained and adequate staff.

Inspite of the ambulance service under 108 started last year, Jammu and Kashmir places itself in the list of areas with insufficient medical assistance. According to some people, the ambulances under 108 are being used only as a means of transport for patients.

Without trained staff, no matter how advanced an ambulance is, it will remain a mere transport vehicle,” a senior surgeon working in a south Kashmir hospital wishing anonymity said.

He further added that the medical assistant present in the ambulance with the patient is not fully aware of the functionality of the technical processes and protocols during any emergency like heart strokes or an accident.

NHM has started the work of piling up manpower and other resources for the development in health sector.
