Feb 19: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) held a protest demanding immediate dissolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and fresh elections in the state.
“We demand that the President immediately dissolve the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and order fresh elections in the state,” JKNPP Chairman, Harshdev Singh said.
Maintaining that the state cannot be kept under prolonged spell of Governor’s rule, he said a democratically elected government should be put in place at the earliest.
Accusing BJP and PDP of engaging in an internal tussle, the JKNPP leader said the parties have failed to provide a stable government to the state.
“It has been more than a month that Governor’s rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir which has brought an inertia in the functioning of the administration. The President must take a call and immediately dissolve the Assembly,” he said.
Singh said the erstwhile PDP-BJP government had failed to deliver on the demands of the people and so they are worried about their prospects of forming government afresh.
“The people of the state must not be left to suffer and, keeping in view their miseries, we urge the President of India to intervene and dissolve the Assembly as it cannot be kept under suspended animation for long,” he said.
The JKNPP leader said all political parties must show courage to seek fresh mandate of the people. “Let the people of the state decide about the government formation,” he said.
