JKNPP stage protests for disrespecting martyrs in Jammu

Grieved over by the State government showing of irreverence towards the supreme sacrifices
made by the Jawans of Dogra and Bihar regiments who attained martyrdom in Pakistan sponsored terror attack at Uri, Panthers activists today staged a protest at exhibition ground here and seeking ex-gratia for the next of the kin of martyrs including SRO-43 benefits. The protest was led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP and Yashpal Kundal State President Young Panthers.
During protest, Harsh Dev Singh revealed that Uttar Pradesh government had announced an ex-gratia of 20 lacs each to next of the kins of slain bravehearts. Likewise Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra governments had announced the ex-gratia of 11 lacs, 10 lacs and 15 lacs each to the family members of the martyrs hailing from the respective States. He regretted that J&K on the other hand had failed to show such gesture to the sons of the soil who attained martyrdom including others who sustained injuries for the security and safety of its own people and
the nation.
He added that the State government had been disparaging its martyrs right from the beginning with no ex-gratia been paid to the Army Jawans besides other defense and security personnel who sacrificed their lives while performing duties for the Motherland.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, while condemning the State government for delaying and denying payment of ex-gratia to the family of Martyr Chamel Singh who was killed in Kot Lakhpat Jail of Pakistan, Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpal Kundal divulged that Sarbjit Singh who was also killed in similar circumstances in the same Jail was given the status of a martyr by Punjab Government besides next of the kin having been given ex-gratia of Rs. 1.25 crore in addition to two jobs in the family.
Mankotia and Yash Paul Kundal maintained that JKNPP would resort to direct action against the criminal acquiescence of Jammu Ministers before Kashmir centric leadership if the immediate announcements of adequate ex-gratia to all the martyrs of Jammu and compassionate appointments to the next of the kin were not made public.
