JKTWS orgainses Thalassemia camp at SMGS Hospital

J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society (JKTWS) in collaboration with Pediatrics department today organized two days camp for Patients of Thalassemia at SMGS Hospital Jammu on 14 and 15 May 2016. Noted Hematologists & experts in Thalassemic disorders, Dr. V.P Choudhary and Dr. J.S Arora from Delhi were the guest faculty on the occasion. The camp was attended by large number of patients, their parents and doctors from Pediatrics deptt. & Pathology Department, GMC Jammu. All Thalassemic patients were examined and evaluated clinically and individual problems and complications were discussed. This was followed by guest lectures by the invited faculty.
Dr. J S Arora General Secretary National Thalassemia welfare Society New Delhi, spoke on various diagnostic methods and treatment modalities of Thalassemia. Dr. V.P Choudhary, former Professor & Head of Hematology AIIMS New Delhi delivered Lecture on various medical,physical psyclogical and emotional aspects of Thalassemia. He also gave his opinion on role of low dose prophylaxis in Haemophillia. The sessions were presided by Dr. Rekha Harish,Prof.& HOD ,Pediatrics, Dr. K.K. Koul, Prof & Head P.G Deptt. of Pathology. Dr. G.S Saini, Prof Pediatrics, Dr Vijay Sahani, & Head P.G Deptt. Of Blood Transfusion Medicine, Dr.Meena Sidhu, Assoc. Prof. Blood Bank. Dr Dara Singh Med Supdt SMGS Hospital attended the function. Dr.Sanjeev Digra Assoc. Prof. Pediatrics & consultant in-charge Thalessemia day care centre SMGS Hospital, conducted, the proceedings during the entire two day camp.
