Several student leaders today demanded removal of vice chancellor (VC) of University of Jammu (JU) for his tyrannical and anti student policies.
Addressing the press conference, Sunny Parihar of NSUI said that the lawful voice of the students of the Jammu University are being muzzled and gagged by the university administration and, whosoever raise voice or shows dissent is served with notices and threats.
Sunny said that on 3rd April 2017 during inaugural function of Sports event in the university, certain students from SKUAST Kashmir disrespected national anthem. The incident was widely reported in media and some videos showing disrespect to national anthem caused by Kashmiri students were also circulated on social media.
Nazma Shamshir, spokesperson Gujjar Bakerwal Students Welfare Association (GBSWA) said that the atmosphere in the university is such  that the students are not allowed to hold even the cultural programme in the campus, which is given protection even in the constitution of the country.
Rishikesh Rana of National Secular Forum (NSF) said that the attitude of Vice Chancellor is dictatorial and against the interest of students community. He said that the vice chancellor openly states in different public forums and media that he has finished the student’s leadership from the university.
The present VC is not only anti student but has also given some objectionable statements in the past in which he has questioned the Indian security forces for killing Burhan Bani and has therefore strengthened the propaganda of separatists and anti nationals, said Nishant Gupta from NSUI.
