Kashmir unit toeing Hurriyat line, Jammu adopts Hindutav agenda

Vinod Kumar

On going Kashmir turmoil has created differences not only in ruling BJP but also in the opposition Congress party because party leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Valley are speaking in two different languages on this issue.

The Jammu based Congress leaders have launched a campaign against BJP leaders for toeing pro-separatist policy for enjoying power. They have charged BJP leaders for dealing with on going unrest in Kashmir Valley with ‘kid hands’. But their counterparts in Kashmir Valley have accused BJP leadership of adopting inhuman and oppressive means in dealing stone pelters of the Valley.

Most of the Kashmir Valley based Congress leaders are echoing view point of National Conference (NC) and other separatist groups of the Valley. They have launched an aggressive campaign against BJP government for violating human rights of the stone pelters in Kashmir.

Interestingly Jammu based Congress leaders, on the other hand, have stepped attack on BJP leaders for not taking strict action against those who have been indulged in stone pelting and other incidents. Congress leaders of Jammu have corned BJP for its failure to protect Amarnath Yatries and other minorities in Kashmir Valley. Jammu based Congress leadership have hijacked BJP’s Hindutava agenda to retrieve its lost ground in the Valley.

Some Congress leaders of the party have convinced the high-command that without “hijacking” the nationalist agenda from the Saffron Party it was impossible to tackle BJP in Jammu region. Congress high command has already given its consent to the state unit to fight BJP with its (BJP’s) ammunitions to expose fake nationalism and fake love of the Saffron Party for the Hindus.

Congress leaders have successfully convinced the high command that revival of party is possible in J&K only after retrieving lost ground in Hindu dominated districts of Jammu province where party was a strong force before 2014 assembly elections. In 2014 assembly not even a single assembly seat from Hindu majority areas.
