Kathua and Marheen Zone fight in final for U/17 Cricket Trophy

Zone Kathua and Marheen reached to final of U/17 Inter Zone District Level Cricket Tournament organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua here at Sports Stadium Kathua.
Today’s competitions were started with quarter final which was played between Lakhanpur and Malhar in which Lakhanpur stopped Malhar to reach to Semifinal and won by 3 runs.
In Semifinal first, Zone Marheen thrashed zone Lakhanpur by 8 wickets. In 15 over’s match, Lakhanpur while batting first, made only 28 runs as Marheen downed it at 6th over. While chasing the target, Zone Marheen collect 28 runs just at 3rd over. Earlier, Daleep Singh of Marheen gave 11 runs and took 5 wickets in addition to 2 run outs in 3 overs.
In Semifinal 2, the host Kathua outplayed Zone Hiranagar by 85 runs in prescribed 15 overs. While batting first, Kathua gave the target of 178 runs to Hiranagar by losing just 2 wickets. Kamalpreet Singh who remained not out added his century plus 11 (111) runs off 50 balls with 17 boundaries and 3 sixes. Giving 16 runs off 3 overs he clinched 3 wickets in addition to 1 Run Out. Laksh also added 25 runs off 18 balls with 4 boundaries.
Earlier, DYSSO Kathua Subash Chander Bhardwaj inaugurated the event in the presence of ZPEO Rajesh Kumar, ZPEO Kailash Chander, Activity Incharges Dharminder Singh Shally, Mohan Lal and Rani Andotra. DYSSO Bharwaj informed that tomorrow Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Ecology and environment Ch. Lal Singh has been Chief Guest to witness the final u/17 cricket match and distribute the prizes to Winners and Runner ups of District level Competitions.
Matches were officiated by Mohan Lal Dub, Avnesh Kumar, Sandeepan Sharma, Kajal Prmi, Naresh Kumar, Darshan Kumar, Omkar Nath. Ram Lubaya, Tilak Raj, Omkar Singh, Rajinder Parshad were also present on the occasion.
