Kathua Police is close to solve the murder mystery of Karan Kumar S/o Raj Kumar, whose dead body was recovered from a under construction toilet of Government Modal Higher Secondary school on Monday. Accordingly, two teenagers are under scanning, whereas police had recovered one screwdriver, and a wooden block used in the murder. Police had also recovered the mobile phone, which was the main reason behind the murder whereas police is in search of more proofs.
According to police sources, two teenage boys from Karan Kumar’s ward namely Lucky S/o Gian Chand and Harish S/o Pritam Chand were having mobile phone of Karan Kumar for which Karan Kumar was asking them to return.
The three boys repeatedly use to have scuffle over the mobile phone. On Monday, Lucky and Harish called upon Karan and asked him for playing in the premises of Government Model Higher Secondary School, from where family members of Karan recovered dead body of Karan Kumar during evening hours.
Having tips, police called upon both the boys to ask if there was any one else present in the school while they were playing. The boys tried their best to dupe the investigating officers by changing their statements repeatedly. Not satisfied with the investigation police is still investigating the case to clarify involvement of others in case.
According to SDPO Jagdev Singh, police is undergoing investigation at other angels also so that no loop remains in the case. Refusing of providing other details SDPO said that it would be too early to declare the matter solved. “Whenever investigation finalizes, police would bring the case before media”, he said.
The police have reportedly arrested two minor boys in connection with the murder of Karan Kumar (13), a Class VIII Dalit boy of Basohli town, whose throat-slit body recovered from an under-construction toilet complex at the Government Model Higher Secondary School on Monday.
The police have recovered the said mobile phone, along with a knife, a screwdriver and a wooden log allegedly used in the crime.
It is pertinent to mention here that the recovery of the minor’s body had led to protests in the area. The residents observed a complete shutdown in Basohli and Mahanpur towns. As part of this, angry villagers attacked a police station, set on fire an official vehicle of the SHO and a room at the police station, besides thrashing a senior police officer.
