While continuing endeavor of mass crusade to strengthen, protect women against women related crime, Kathua Police, under the supervision of SSP Kathua Ms Neeva Jain, together with young school and college-going girls once again organized seventh module of 7-days self-defence training module at Government Hr Sec School Kootah, Hiranagar.
During the inauguration ceremony, Sarpanch Kootah Kant Kumar Sharma, Heads of different institution/Schools, Dy SP (Prob) Rakesh Sambyal, Resource persons Amit Sangra, Suraj Bhagat, Gurcharan, Ms Manisha Devi and Ms Rubina besides others were also present on the occasion.
Dy SP (Prob) Rakesh Sambyal in his address, laid emphasis on Judo Karate training of college girls so that they may be able to defend themselves whenever any untoward incidence of eve teasing or any attack on their modesty takes place. He said that police is not always present everywhere and hence the girls should rebound with courage and give a befitting reply to such eve teasers.
“This module is especially to impart self-defence training to the girls belongs to rural part and outskirts of District Kathua. It is pertinent to mention here that this is the 7th batch which was organize after the successful completion of previous six batches in which about 160 girls for different schools of Kootah panchayat are participating”, he added.
Rakesh Sambyal further said that the training module will aware the participants about legal provision related to crime against women, Techniques like pepper spray, nanchak etc for self-defence and physical defence training.
Sarpanch Kant Kumar in his address thanked District Police Kathua for giving the opportunity to the girl students of the college to learn the art of self-defence. She said the girls would benefit immensely from the discipline, respect, confidence, fitness and fun of Karate.
