Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Former Union Minister and Senior Congress Leader, said that “the killing spree in Handwara is most condemnable and shows the deplorable spectacle of continuous human rights violation. The probe that has been announced may or not yield any solution for future.
“I would like to propose two actionable steps that can be taken by the J&K Administration, immediately” said Soz.
“One is that, the least J&K Police can do is that the DGP should satisfy himself on the veracity of the statement made by the Handwara girl and then make a public statement on that” he said.
“Second, that, under the precarious conditions prevailing in Kashmir, the CM would be well-advised to call an urgent meeting of the J&K Unified Command and discuss Handwara killings and satisfy herself on facts and then take people of the J&K State into confidence” he said.
