Srinagar, March 13
District Administration Bandipora organised awareness cum cheque distribution camp here today.The function was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Sajad Hussain. Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Bandipora, concerned officials, affected families and construction workers were present on the occasion.
The participants on the occasion were sensitised about various schemes and welfare programmes underway for the labour community. The DDC on the occasion distributed cheques amounting to over Rs.12 lakh under various welfare schemes of JKBOCWWB among the deserving.Speaking to the gathering, the DDC asked the concerned officer to clear all the pending cases as per the commitment made by the Chief Minister during Public Durbar here in December last. He also stressed for the conduct of awareness programmes in rural and remote areas of the district. Giving details of the cheques, the ALC said that Rs.10.25 lakh were provided in favour of 5 death cases, RS.1.34 lakh given to 4 workers ailing from chronic diseases, while as Rs 50,000 provided to one deserving as higher education assistance.
