‘Ladli Beti’ Scheme launched in six districts on pilot basis: Sajad Lone

Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone today informed that Government has launched ‘Ladli Beti’ Scheme on pilot basis in six selected districts exhibiting low sex ratio. Replying to a question of Ali Mohammad Dar, the Minister said the scheme has been launched in Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Jammu, Samba and Kathua and Rs 2.50 crore have been earmarked for the scheme.
The Minister said ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ scheme has been implemented in 15 districts of the state to generate awareness through a Mass Campaign about the declining sex ratio. He said Rs 2.06 crore stands utilized, out of Rs 3.62 crore allocated funds under the scheme.
As many as 2244 cases have been approved under Ladli Beti Scheme, the Minister informed.
