LAHDC Leh urges PM NarendraModi to confer “Bharat Ratna” to Dalai Lama

A resolution to confer “Bharat Ratna” to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was moved by Jamyang Tsering Namgyal BJP Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh which was unanimously passed by all the Councilors of LAHDC Leh in the Annual General Council Meeting held on December 21 and 22, 2016.
The resolution reads, “Needless to mention, the 14th Dalai Lama has inspired millions of followers across the world to shun violence and practice compassion, tolerance, and understanding of humanity.
By preaching peace across the globe, His Holiness conferred with the Noble Peace Prize in 1989. He has contributed in strengthening the ancient Indian values specially Nalanda tradition in the world”.
Moving the resolution in the House of BJP Councillor Jamyang Tsering Namgyal says, “We and countless others, the silent majority, especially the people of Ladakh fully endorse this demand”.
The House of LAHDC Leh urges the Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the Govt. of India to confer “Bharat Ratna” award to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in recognition of the greatest apostle of peace in modern time.
The resolution was submitted in support to the demand made by Shanta Kumar, BJP M.P. to Narendra Modi and Govt. of India.
